So many holidays to celebrate!
This next two months will see a whole new show and the second installment in a sell out show from last year.

November 21st to November 30th I will be premiering my newest show, FULL DARK at Sheridan College in Oakville. How wonderful!
I am super excited!
The amazing Michael Rubinoff, who is Associate Dean of Visual and Performing Arts at Sheridan, among other fancy titles, came to my first workshop of the show at Buddies in Bad Times and suggested I bring it to them in conjunction with masterclasses in cabaret
Well, how can a gal not wanna do that!?!?!
The band is being led by the wonderful Cooch (Chris Tsujiuchi) on keys with the excellent Jason Chesworth on guitar and mandolin...yes, mandolin, people...and, coming all the way from Fredericton, the award winning Mike Doherty on percussion... I AM EXCITED JUST WRITING THIS!!!
The award winning Bonnie Beecher is doing the lights!!
Denise Lisson from Sheridan College has put together a wonderful drop w/the students out there...
SO EFFING EXCITING!!
I hope you can make it out...it is the darkest/funnest thing I have ever had the good fortune to write.
With stories based on Grimm's Fairy Tales... Devils... Monsters... Ghosts...RIGHT AFTER Halloween!! And new arrangements of tunes by Usher, Beyonce, the Charlie Daniels Band, Billy Joel, Rihanna, Coldplay and Hole...yes, I said HOLE!!!
This show is an experiment in cabaret that I had the good fortune to work on as part of my residency at the best place in the world, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre.
Thanks to them!
AND thanks to Nada Ristich at BMO, John McKellar and Joan Mathers and the OAC who helped me get this far.

SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
GLOBAL CABARET FESTIVAL
OCTOBER 26th @ 7:00pm
OCTOBER 27th 2 4:30pm

One of my VERY FAVOURITE things to do EVERY YEAR!!
It is an amazing festival and I am always so bowled over by all the artists and all of the cabaret creations!
THIS year my show is called and themed:

Something Completely Different

For the first time in a very long while I am singing every song in my show all the way through. Yup...whole songs...who woulda thunk it? AND I am focusing mostly on songs of love and loss...and a couple sexy things... :)
I NEVER get to sing a love song
I also am very excited about my very simple but lovely accompaniment of guitar (Jason Chesworth) and percussion (Jamie Drake).
I wanted to try something different (re:title) at this very creative and inspirational festival.
I am covering artists such as Billy Joel, Gavin DeGraw, Duffy, Bruno Mars and Jessie J...many new songs...and a few that I have never done with this configuration of instruments.
WOO WOO!!! Excited!

FULL DARK
Sheridan College Studio Theatre
NOVEMBER 21st to 30th @7:30pm

I am super excited to be doing the premiere production of my newest show at Sheridan College. Incidentally, Sheridan was the place where I went to school for musical theatre back in the 1942. Truly...it seems that long ago.
Sheridan is doing some really exciting new works with students, composers, lyricists, librettists...and now CABARET!! How exciting! I am looking forward to working with the students while I rehearse and workshop further my newest and most daring cabaret to date:

 FULL DARK

Full Dark was fostered at Buddies In Bad Times as a part of my artistic residence ...with support from the BMO Financial, the OAC, private supporters Joan Mathers and John McKellar AND Sheridan College.
It is a daunting and exciting new piece for me! And I get to do a run of it! Imagine!
I will be accompanied by Chris Tsujiuchi on keys and as band leader, Mike Doherty on percussion and Jason Chesworth on Guitar and other stringed instruments.
Award winning Lighting Designer, Bonnie Beecher will be doing the lights. MAGIC!
PLEASE come on out!
The link is up but the box office is not yet open!
PLEASE check back!

So come out down to the Cabaret people!
(I ALMOST never say that...so don't judge too much)
I would love to see you...

My Thanksgiving Thankful List 2013...Spoiler: Large Boxes of Wine is on it.

Well, everyone reading this made it to Thanksgiving 2013.
Congratulations!!!
That is always the first thing I am grateful for on Thanksgiving...being here...being healthy...only having to deal with a bad back and sometimes, because I am a woman over 40, having to clench my thighs together when I sneeze...if you know what I mean...you know what I mean.

I would now, in no particular order, like to list the things I am thankful for.
Thank you in advance for reading...and I encourage you to write your own list today...have a wonderful day...AND wear stretchy pants to dinner.

SHARRON'S 2013 Thankful Thanksgiving List

1. Stretchy Pants

2. Benefibre (changed my life)

3. George...again...this is in no particular order.

4. Hot Sunny Days That Are Unexpected...like yesterday. I was just telling George about how I waxing poetical about a day in the 90's when I was walking around on October 13th in shorts...well, yesterday was October 12th and I was in shorts...that will do it.

5. Cassie The Dog...I hope she is in heaven giving that haughty stare to one million mid sized black dogs. (Her nemisis).

6. Tyson the Dog...who is presently working the sadness of the house and using it to sleep on our bed every night...he is 120 pounds...most nights, to get any sleep with this huge fart factory in our bed, we have to take either Melatonin or a sleeping pill to sleep...worth it.

7. Large Boxes of Wine...see...I told you...self explanatory.

8. Getting Into A Car That Is Already Filled with Gas. See Number 3.

9.  My Family. Most of them. They know who they are.

10. My Dear Dear Dear Friends. Most of them. They ALSO know who they are. *Seriously...thanks for all the kindness shown to us in the past week since our girl dog died. Truly.

11. Subcategory to Number 11: Friends Who Are Willing To Talk With Me On The Phone As I Drive Back And Forth from Stratford to Toronto and back.  That is a long fucking drive...done many times...I have learned so many wonderful things about these dear people on these drives, hooked up to my IPHONE driving the back roads of Southern Ontario.
Heh Heh...I said "BackRoads".

12.  ALL PEOPLE who read my blogs, comment (positively) on my Facebook, follow, read and/or reply to my twitter, like my instagrams and celebrate the social media whorie-ness of it all. AND ALSO all the people who just click delete or hide me in their feed instead of telling me what a social media whore I am...and how it offends them. SO BASICALLY awesome people who enjoy or politely ignore the social media ride and NOT the Hater VanHatersteins. AND ANYONE who has ever come to one of my shows...except for the dude from the New Christian Newspaper who came to see "Jesus Thinks I'm Funny" in Edinburgh and then said my voice was shrill. Again, Shrill is one of my colours. YOU can suck it.

13. Those Flavour Squirt Things For Water. Thank you. (Keep your inappropriate and gross jokes to yourself.)

14. Scented Candles. Dogs that fart. Enough said.

15. Fresh Sheets.

16. Hellavu Dip...this ALSO goes in the list of things I am NOT thankful for, FYI.

17.  Naps. All Naps. Especially naps that turn into 10 hours of sleep.

18. My Bicycle.

19. Love.  Love is awesome.

20. Grey's Anatomy. I just...it is so...I can barely...it is awesome.

21. My Life. It is truly something.

I wish you all a wonderful day filled with warmth and love...and just...everything.

Happy Thanksgiving.
