BIG LOVIN'

Now...I am not gonna say I am addicted to the TV but any of you who have seen my show know that I am fond of the boob tube.
As it were.
I always like to use that in sentences "As it Were"...that way of you are talking shit and don't know what you are spouting about people are all dazzled by " As it were" at the end ....don't believe me...try it.
Anyhow, back to the old tube.....
So, even though it was overcast as shit at the beach last week I still managed to burn...because my skin is a bit from hell. So, I was feeling a bit damaged and decided to stay in and out of the sun and watch some TV.
I have the PVR and TMN on demand, like any good TV lover, so I decided to watch " Big Love" the HBO show about Polygamy.
What a subject.
Anyhow the lovely Jeanne Tripplehorn and the always-mistaken-for-Bill-Pullman, Bill Paxton were heading the cast...I thought how bad could it be?
Well, who watched all 13 episodes?
In a row.
Me.
Me Loved It.
Couldn't get enought of all the character actors all over it and the plot line.....gripping as hell!!!
Chloe Sevigy...did I spell that right?....plays one of the three wives ....I just hate her/love her.
I haven't liked her in anything before but I really like her in this.
The other wife is played by Jinnifer Goodwyn.
Where have I seen here before?
I know that I could IMDB it but it is more fun this way.
Anyhow, if you get a chance pull up a chair and be engrossed.
Speaking of grossed I hear that the new season of "Slings and Arrows" starts soon and playing a role this season is friend to "Sharron's Party" Damien Atkins!
Woo hoo.
Love TV.
Hate my demon skin.
Gonna go the gym.

OH My God!!

Lance Bass is gay? No way? Who knew? Well, some of us........I loved Reichen on the Amazing Race ...but what happened to his Crazy, with a capital C , husband Chip??? He was kooky! I guess they went to an NSYNC concert and Lance spied him from the stage and sent his minions to find him and then they lived happily ( secretly ) ever after.
Hmm.
I went to the beach today...in Turkey Point. It wasn't supposed to rain ...so guess what it did?
Rain...and buckets....shitloads.....so much so that the sewers were spitting the water back. You might think that I am being dramatic, cause I am known for it....but it is all true. I still got a great swim and then did a little window shop with my sis and niece. We had a great day.
Okay....one more thing....Allison got booted ofa " So You Think..." What happened there?
Natalie should have went.
Oh my summer reality shows make me think too hard.
I am going to Fashion Crimes tomorrow to do an article for the Star with Rita Zekas....awesome!!! Any chance I get to dress like a diva I am a happy girl!

That is it!

That is the LAST TIME I watch crappy Canadian Idol. I know I said that yesterday was...but I lied....sue me.....Ug. George wanted to watch the results show. The best singer on the show got booted....she looked shock and a bit pissed. I applaud that reaction.
It is just so ...so....lame. That is the best I can come up with. Those young-uns sing songs with crappy arrangements with a kick- ass band...backed up by my friend Saidah, incidentally one of the best singers I know,....and they couldn't be worse and then the lame judges tell them that they were great. Did you see the episode where Sass sang last year?? I was so shocked and freaked that I watched it from the other room, the kitchen with my head sticking around the corner. She was turrrrrrrble.
Oh my ...my cup runneth over with contempt....I am usually trying to find something positive in performers but I just couldn't. There are so many awesome people out there...I know it...I have seen them and he we are on national TV represented by Stephie D.....if you don't get it ...watch one episode next week...I would love to hear what the three of you thought. I won't be....watching that is...I'll be reading my People magazine.

It is the last time...talk about bad, lame, mediocre, crappy....oooh ug......Stephie D........please!!!!!! It hurts my feelings......it is just everything that is wrong......but don't ever touch my So You Think You Can Dance...that is just good shit right there. The show was awesome fun last week. Not alot of regulars but a ton of new peeps. We sang Lionel Richie's "All Night Long""Tumbo leeta sa de mool ya....."Well....... that is what it sounds like to me.Finished shooting on the "Camille" movie this week with Sienna Miller and James Franco. Nice.Jude Law was there in the make up trailer but I couldn't come up with a good excuse to go in.....pussy.I am sure that he is short.Going to work my ass off this week on the next few shows...new guests...new attitude.......well, same attitude.

Camping and Orcs

Well, George and I got back yesterday from our only vacation this year and our last until next January, boo hoo. George is working like a dog starting tomorrow until the middle of January. He is doing a show at Summerworks , then a show at Theatre Aquarius, then he is playing Horton in the Suessical at LKYPT. He is busy.
We went.......are you sitting?.......camping.
Really, me.
We went to Turkey Point...just outside of Port Dover. Our tent was so small that at about 4:00am we would open up the door and stick our feet out so that we could lie straight. But is was nice.......and a bit dirty. I think camping is just an excuse for poor hygiene, really. But we cooked outdoors and ate outdoors and , since I have recently taken up drinking again, drank wine ourdoors. We spent our days at the beach, which was excellent. I was under my umbrella 'cause I have the sensitive skin and George would not put on sunscreen so as a result got a 2nd degree sunburn and every four hours I put aloe vera on him.
Bless.
The water was very cold but I went in anyway. I tried to stay away from the screaming children 'cause you know they are just peeing their pants off in there.
Then we came back and our dear friend Cory got us $20 tickets to Lord Of The Rings.....which I loved! Fuck all those reviewers. I do love the genre....the whole sword and knight deal-ie but it was so beautiful on the eyes and the ears....so incredibly creative..... I could not help but applaud it's excitement.
Then we came home and watched the PVR we had of So You Think You Can Dance...two words...awe-some.
Patrick and I are off this week to Shaw to rehearse Mr. Dan Chameroy. WE are taking a gay day trip. It will be very festive and filled with fabulousness.
The Party is next week....July 17th...they are coming up faster and faster. I was just getting the Songologue together! Woo Hoo.
Friday I start on the film Camille, the Sienna Miller and James Franco movie shooting in town...maybe I can get her out to the show....Hahahahahahhahah!!! Ya never know! I am playing a paramedic. Very serious.

Ho Hum

The week after the show always feels like summer vacation. I feel very happy with how it all went, I have thoughts rolling around in my mind about the next show and I feel that I really don't have to focus on them too, too much. So, I am spending time in the garden...it is excellent ...if anyone had told me 8 or nine years ago that I would have a garden I would have told them that they were on crack. Literally.
I am reading and......composing a huge list of possible new songs to do.
Speaking of new songs......we have really gotten our feet wet with starting " Songs for a New World". We have had three rehearsals and have, hopefully, nailed down a director...which I am very excited about......but I can't tell the three of you who read this who it is ....... Yet. But it is cool. Super Cool. Tracy, Thom, Jason and I, our original Canadian cast have reunited and we will be performing it in November at the Young Centre. We are super pumped and we are singing away. And then stopping and looking really close at the music....then proclaiming..." I NEVER sang that!" Ah, honesty is such a scary word!
George and I are getting ready to take a little overnighter with Otto our puppy to Stratford to visit friends. Fun!
What else?
I have only flipped off about 20 people so far this year on my bike....which is awesome...a record for me.
And someone who tried to cut me off got the bad side of my attitude and then they told me, and I quote "Go back to Britain!"....no really.....I was so gobsmacked that I didn't know how ot respond....so after the shock wore away I called him every swear word that I could think of. we have to stand up for our brothers across the pond.
Oh ya!
I saw Jonathon Munroe's workshop of " variations on a nervous breakdown" . First of all.......gay gay gay for his music I am. He is awesome! But his show was just an amazing collection of smart, funny, moving compositions sung by some fab singers.........Adam Brazier ( Woman in White on Broadway but a good ole Canadian Boy), Elizabeth Beeler ( who I did Showboat with) and Sarah Cornell ( Ulla in the Producers)...they were great and clearly had done some huge hard work. Oh and Jonnie sang too. Too many talents too little time.
I saw some "Sharron's Partier's" at Jonnie's show and it warmed my heart.
Wednesday night I am going to see the amazing Steve Gallagher ( first suprise guest at the Gladstone) playing the MC in Cabaret at Stage West. Love him ....cannot wait!
Wow, that is alot.
I hope that the three of you are well.
Put on your sunscreen and don't drink too much.
Love Sharron

Can't Sleep

What time is it?
5:15 am and I am sitting here reading answers to my blog and am shamed by Paul saying that since George has been home my entries have stopped.
Well turned, sir.
Cannot sleep....could be the aftershow pizza and wings.
Could be the excitement......we are waiting for offers on our house today and that put us on tenderhooks.
We spent the last two weeks fluffing the house and getting it ready.
Fluffing...interesting term in regards to this process.
I had to tell my sister what it first meant and then what it meant in regards to the house.
She was surprised!
Too much...painting, plastering, cleaning, planting and then when I had a few moments.....
rehearsing and writing.
The show ended about 8 hours ago and I am still thrilled.
It surprises me everytime how much I really enjoy doing it.
For those of you who could be there the songlist was:
"Life of the Party"( the best opener ever)
"All in the Finale" ( Songologue....featuring the theme songs from some of your favourite shows)
Ted Simonett and I sang "Just the Way You Are"
" New Girl In Town" ( Alice) into " Wig in a Box/ Science Fiction"
Don't Cha ( Pussycat Dolls) / Wanna Be (Spice Girls).....I know, right...it was awesome!
Nobody's Girl ( Bonnie Raitt)/ Mr. Brightside (The Killers) yes.....those Killers.
" Gloria" was the Sing-a-long and boy did they sing....knew all the words, too!
"Don't Stop Believin'"....Journey, Baby...you cannot go wrong there.
" Last Dance" Donna Summer....as always
and we encored on
"Stop in the Name of Love"
It was Awesome!!!!
We were packed again....I am constantly amazed and flabbergasted that we have such a great turn out!
We played games and Lisa Horner was the surprise guest...she sang " Total Eclipse of the Heart " with full choreo..Patrick sang back up for her.
She is one of the funniest ladies around.
Graham Abbey brought down the house with a Girl Medley that included "Sister Christian" and " Baby, One More Time" by Britney Spears and then he classed the place up with a bit of Shakespeare.
Ted Simonett, ex Canadian Tire Guy, sang a tune by John Bucchino
then as I said he and I dueted on " Just the Way You are"
I know that I say this everytime but....it was my favourite show so far.
I do always have the best seat in the house.
Patrick and I so enjoy putting it together....do come on down.
I am gonna try and put the wings and pizza tummy to bed!
Nighty night.

Thank god!

Thank God!
I went to the airport today two hours early because I was so excited! Georgie came home! And what a shock for him....from winter in Halifax, he was still wearing his leather jacket two days ago to ......and I quote the car thermometer ( is that spelled right?..can't bother with spellcheck..too hot) 38 degrees. He said it felt like he was going on vacation getting off the plane here.
Everytime I see him standing around the house it feels like a mirage. And to make it all the more exciting Blythe Wilson offered us tickets to the Oliver opening tomorrrow night in Stratford. Fun, Wow!!!!
Cannot wait, it is going to be total culture shock for George.
I wonder what it will be like? I do love the Colm Feore, he can do no wrong by me onstage. His confidence is thrilling. Wanna know a secret? Whenever I am nervous I always ask myself ......"What Colm Feore would do?"...... Then I am filled with bravado and other things and nerves go away!
Funny.
Other than that all is quiet...it is three weeks till the party and Patrick and I have already had some rehearsals...exciting!
I am trying to think if anything else exciting is going on?
George is home.....what am I doing sitting here writing on my blog???
Frick this.......

Whew!
What a week, what a night....what a musical cavalcade...I am just spent!
I had such a great time on Monday night!!!
How many excalmations points is too much!!!!!!!
What a great crowd, I was impressed for a holiday weekend and we had a bunch of new people, too.
Middle Earth showed up from the Princess of Wales theatre to see the fabulous Evan Buling sing one of my favourite songs that he wrote himself called 'Front Bum"...yup it is what it says. He was great!
Micheal Therriault who plays Golum was there...people were very excited to see him...and he was sitting with Neil Barclay from the Shaw festival company and the lovely Tracy Michialidis who I will be doing "Songs For A New World" with again in the fall.
The illustrious Graham Abbey who will be a guest next time...June 19th..was there with Michelle Giroux of the Stratford Festival company...I must be getting legit....all the classical actors are beginning to show up!!!
It is about time!!!!
I had two awesome dressess from the wonderful ladies at Fashion Crimes who were there lookin fabulous! They make me want to dress better every day!
Mary Ann McCord was there...who can ever get enough of her??
I sang alot more musical theatre than I usually do at the Party !!!
It went over but I am sure looking forward to getting back to more new pop tunes!
I do love the exclamation marks it seems.
Jennie Waiser was just great...she sang from Wild Party and Avenue Q...very contemporary....she is gonna be on Broadway in the fall! The Pirate Queen.
And Surprise guest....drum roll please.....Jonathon Munro.
He was just excellent and I am a big gaylord for his talent.
He sang two of his own songs.
Brill.
My favourite part is just seeing who shows, seeing new faces and watching them watch the guests and be enthralled!
Patrick and I had a great time kibitzing and he and I worked our little asses off.....we love the Sting into Bono medley and always look forward to doing all of Bohemian Rhapsody...yup...all of it!
See you soon...

Creation, Ideas and Freakin'

Holy Cool!
Last night I finished up my week long Canstage experience of the Festival of Creation and Ideas.
I didn't know what to expect but it was amazing!
I have never had an experience quite like this one.
First of all working on these pieces was a treat and a challenge.
Working outside your comfort zone it a new enjoyment for me. If you would have told me that 10 years ago I would have laughed in your general direction.
I got to work with Thom Allison, always good shit, Mary Ann McDonald who I have been dreaming of working with forever and Jonathon Munroe who was one of the performers as well as genius composer.
And then add to the mix Jenni Burke, who I went to school with and Ann Morifee, yes, that Ann Morifee. What an inspiring woman.
After hearing her talk for 10 minutes I was all welled up and would have voted for her....for anything.
She has balls and bravery and a spirit that will not quit.
We were all sitting on a break and she said that our's, as performers, was not to worry about who comes to see us or what they think but to dream the dream and hopefully help others dream right back.
Boo hoo and woo hoo.
Anyway, I gush but it isn't often that you get to "play in the sandbox" as Iris Turcott said last night at the presentation.
Also, I forgot to mention that we were also led down the path by the fabulous Martin Julien and my dear friend Neil Bartram.
It was a total pleasure.
Last night was electric.
We were all a little unsure but I really think that added to the evening.
Leslie Arden was there, Vincent De Tourdenett, Corrine Koslo, Paul Ledoux, comedy woman extraordinare Shelley Simester, Damien Atkins, Ian Ross, Ronnie Burkett and a host of others. it was a room full of fabulousness.
We did out thing and it went well.
Then after the piano was open and because of the theme of the evening people like David Sereda and Coco Alcorn got up and sang their own compositions and, my favourite, Leslie Arden sang from Martin Guerre, which was awesome and reminded me of rehearsing that show in that very room 10 years ago .
I do go on.....but it was really cool.
I was inspired to create.
It was something else.
I can't wait to see you all at the party and we will create a freaky night together, all our own!
See you there!

Ooooh Rexy...

OOOOh Noooo!
I went to see the opening of "Song and Dance" last night.....Joe Matheson was kind enough to invite me...I knew that I would have good seats at the very least, him being Louise Pitre's loving man.......and I loved the show....Louise...awesome...of course! Then during the excellent second act.....I loved watching the dancing and seeing Eric Robertson who I think is one of the best dancers in Canada...and saw Rex Harrington, can he be any better looking?....hurt himself and pull himself offstage.......then saw an empty stage and watched the musical director turn around and look perplexed. The cast soldiered on...but you couldn't help but wonder what the fuck was going on backstage.
All the thoughts running thru my head about what the hell they would do....he was Rex Harrington for shit sakes.....people are coming to see him.....would he be able to come back....how badly was he hurt.....how crappy for it to happen at all let alone on their opening night!
UG.
I felt for them.
It was a star studded Canadian Event though last night and I was excited to see an opening at a new venue and all the broohahaha surrounding it and over on my side of town too.
I hope it bodes well for other new things to be there.
I, of course, handed out my new card like a whore.
"What am I doing? Well......"
Today, I am back at Canstage.
It is really nice to be back there and also to work on new material.
Zachary Florence is an amazingly well spoken and sweet 22 year old, yes 22 year old composer who wrote a song that is fast and funny with a very interesting character, it is quite a complex piece and I plan to spend the day cramming it into my head as we perform tomorrow.
Holy shit.
And Jonathon Munroe, who I have know for a while as an aquaintance, is a composer, singer, actor and yesterday in rehearsal he did some tap dancing moves and I told him that was too much talent in his body. A star that boy is.
He gave me a lyrical piece to sing and I am challenged and excited.
I find myself challenged by both of the pieces.
Which is good. I keep reminding myself of that.
It is amazing to be around creation all day.
Piss off.
I am allowed to say arty things whenever I want.
Anyway, a week and a half till the Party!
It will be awesome!

I keep tryin'...

Hey All,
I keep trying to write down my thoughts here on my old blog but I keep getting waylaid by the business that is life. I feel lucky that I have projects because, as I said before, without Georgie...it is lonely. boo hoo.
But he is keepin' busy..I called him last week to tell him that I was wearing shorts and he told me he was wearing a parka.... our love ....separated by weather, a time zone and a 2 hour plane ride. It is star crossed. But we have a great phone plan. We like to call each other and for the first two minutes talk about how it is free to talk. We are very exciting.
Anyway, now that I am DONE MY TAXES!!!!..... ya gotta love it when your accountant tries to tell jokes....just finish my damned taxes and tell me the damage and leave the levity to me, alright!....and done the spring clean.....how do dust bunnies grow????......and gotten the backyard garden on it's way...is that dead forever or just waiting to grow? ...I am freakin' Martha Stewart...maybe I can figure out how to turn a ....oh.... I don't have the energy for a joke...I tried a couple there and they were just bad.....I am getting ready for the show. I was just goin' over some music and makin' some calls to schedule rehearsals. I am really excited about the show this month. I mean, I usually am but now that it is getting to be a more regular thing I feel like I can get more excited instead of panicked as shit.
Oh, I am sure the panicked as shit will come...but not right now.
It is lookin' good.
Thom Alison and I went and had a movie date last week. We saw two in one night because we are hard core ......oh, and we really have no schedule to speak of.
We saw Kinky Boots....awesome ...... Thom wondered for the whole movie where the auditions were and why no one called him!!!! Then we saw Bettie Page.....it was a second choice and we loved it!!! That Gretchen Moll was just fabu.
He and I start on Monday at Canstage as a part of the Fesival of Creation and ideas. We are working on two new musicals for 4 days and then presenting them and then I think we are doing a little cabaret on the 11th...which is a Thursday. Anyhoo...the whole Festival sounds interesting Leslie Arden, Denise Clark and Edward Albee ( fancy!) are involved and if you are interested call Canstage at 416 367 8243. A plug for them....they can't say I never did nothin' for them.
Tuesday night I am goin' to the opening of Song and Dance at the Music hall and I couldn't be more excited!!!! It is an old fave of mine and that Louise Pitre can belt out a tune.
There is alot goin' on......it keeps me from being bored and lonely, don't forget! I ain't braggin' just tryin' to cover the pain. boo hoo.
My mom is coming for the week to take care of the oldest schnauzer in the land, while I rehearse and stuff.
I hope she doesn't feed Otto too much people food.
I hope she doesn't ask me if I swear that way around my friends.
I hope she doesn't make me watch Coronation Street.
Have a great day peeps!

My cups runneth......

How Awesome is life????
Pretty excellent, except for my loving husband Georgie and my gay/fake husband Patrick still being away.... all is pretty good.
I was up until 4:00am last night listening to new music cause I am something of a gaylord for the tunes.
I have about 40 songs that I am choosing from for the next few shows and my little 'songologue' is pretty much written for May 22.
I just finalized the people for the summer till the last date in August, which is the 28th
that date will be ....
drum roll please.....
back by popular demand Thom Alison, woo hoo, we love him and new guests...
THE BITTERGIRLS!!!!!
Woo hoo...we will be chatting and they will be doing a reading or something fab.
Mary Francis Moore and Alison Lawrence....(the other Bittergirl, Annabel Griffiths, will be having a baby so....not so bitter at the time)will be there representin'.
I am so excited about the line up.
I feel very blessed.
Piss off judgers.....I am allowed to feel blessed under my tough, brassy exterior ( is that spelled right? my spell check is effed!)
Other than that..it is back to taxes and because I am a virgo and love organization....loving taxes a bit...but don't tell Georgie.
OOHHH wait till you see who the surprise guest this month is....I am all a quiver!
I forgot to mention the .....'oh-look-who-came-to-the-party-peeps'...um, people.
We saw Canada's most prolific writer Norm Foster in the corner holdin' a tall one, a beer people! And was't that Rita Zekas, of the Toronto Star? She looks awesome!
Real Live Boy Damien Atkins, just back from playing the title character in 'I Am My Own Wife'in....Texas of all places!
And a whole new wack of people that I didn't know....wouldn't be a party without new people!
Back to Quicken and reciepts....

New Guests

So!
Not only will we be having awesome guests for May (Jenn Waiser and Evan Buliung) and June ( Ted Simonett and Graham Abbey)....I managed to snag some really exceptional peeps for July .......Dan Chameroy, who is currently starring in "High Society" at Shaw will be guesting. Dan and I met when he was 19 and I was 21 and we were in Les Mis. We were newbies. We used to go to the Y and workout then go to Frans for fish and chips....ah to be young again.
If you've been under a rock and not heard of the fantastic Shoshana Sperling then here is your chance!!! I have seen her many times and her creativity and humour just blow me away. She does a chick singer paraody that slays me. On this night she will be performing with her husband ...who is an amazing bass player. I met her through Ed Sahley ....he is awesome....what a community we have!
AHHHHH! We are so lucky to have the talent we have in Toronto. And even more exciting.....they are comin' to Sharron's Party.
Patrick is in Sudbury and I am missing him. With Georgie already out in Halifax it is hard times. I thank god for Otto the scary guard dog. He may be a schnauzer, which sounds cute ....and is ...... but he is mighty.
The weather was so gorge ( sassy for gorgeous) today I got out in the garden.
Thom Allison and I went to see "Take the Lead" tonight as I have a very small cameo in it. It was turrible. But Thom and I laughed our heads off. I ask you this.....with millions of dollars going into movies and hundreds of people making decisions how can a sound boom still be seen in some scenes? That is just effed.

Bohemian Rhapsody!

Oh, What a Night!
Easter Party!
What a great turn out and what great guests.
I was a little worried after I booked the date and found out that it was Easter Monday.
But, no worries.
A whole wack of newbies were there last night along with many regulars ( Rafe, Woody, Kent, Mary Francis), who I love having. There were about 120 peeps there!!!!!
First of all.....how much do I love Fashion Crimes, 322 1/2 Queen Street West, for outfitting me?
They dressed me up like a doll and made me feel all pretty.
Thank God, cause Rita Zekas was there and is writing for the Shopping Section of the Star and she seemed pretty jazzed about what I was wearing!
I had two great outfits.
A Burnt Sienna (remember that crayon?) Marilyn Monroe cocktail dress and in the second set I wore a tight fitting black number splashed with accessories that made me feel like a queen and a bit French.
They loved it when I said that those bitches will dress you right!
They will be dressing me again!!!
And speaking of being dressed, the man who I can't live without, next to my Georgie, Mr. Patrick Burwell, had a shirt made that said
"Sharron's Bitch"
on it.
At one point in the dressing room He was curling my hair and cinching up my dress.
He has other talents than that of musical direction, clearly.
My Songologue, which is now my second piece of the night, was all about how I wanted to play Effie in Dreamgirls and half way thru I got so excited about getting a laugh that I went totally blank after a few moments of searching I found my way back but I did poop my pants there for a minute.
Ya gotta love live theatre.
John Alcorn, dreamy.
He sang a song that he wrote for Ronnie Burkett's latest show at Canstage.
Lovely.
Ed Sahely sang and played for himself....a surprise for me.
He is such a funny guy and his songs were another side of him.
I love that.
Look for he and Jonathon Wilson to do some improv at the Party soon.
Our sing-a-long last night was a combo of Can't Help Lovin' That Man of Mine from Showboat into Come Sail Away by Styx.....went over awesome.
It is one of our biggest chores coming up with an interesting audience participation song.
And it is one of my fave parts.
Miss Shelley Simester was my surpirse guest and stole the show, much to my chagrin and jealousness, singing two very funny pieces and telling some great stories.
Who knows....I hope that she will write a show someday soon!
Then...I was so excited.....my 11:00 number was Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody!
Woo hoo!
I was looking forward to it all night.
The evening was a little longer than usual but all in all people seemed entertained and happy. I know I was but I always have the best seat in the house.
Thanks to all who came and look forward to seeing you soon at the Party!
Please write in with your suggestions for songs and I will put them on the list.
All my best,
Sharron

Out East!

I am sitting in a place called the"Paper Chase" at the end of Argyle Street in Halifax trying to do all of my business stuff ! Emailing. Paper reading.
Bloggin' all of the four of you who read this...but it will build up a following. I mean, really, who wouldn't want to read about my comin's and goin's?
Who I ask you?
I just finished the "out east" tour of Tribal Productions
Charlie Brown.
I was Lucy Van Pelt!
I actually am Lucy Van Pelt.
For Real.
I came home one day and said to George
" I am playing myself."
He smiled uncomfortably and went back to making dinner.
I decided to embrace her,
Fury and all.
We played St John, Moncton, Fredricton, Antigonish and , wait for it, Glace Bay.
Glace Bay is then end of the highway. It just drops you there with no hope , the highway that is.
Patrick, my partner in Party crime, was the musical director of CB and we were at a Subway in Glace Bay ( Jared was right, Subway is good) and Patrick was getting his sub done up right and the girl who was the sandwich artist turned to the other sandwich artist and said
"Watch your hand you're gonna burn yourselfssssss!"
( Cause all of the easterners words end with S's)
And guy sandwich artist said
" I don't care, I hate this fuckin' job!"
That kinda sums it all up, right there.
The first bit of the tour was great. St. John, Moncton and Fredricton had great audiences.
But after that?
Smelly.
But now I am Halifax visiting George.
He is in Evita playing Peron.
He is having a great time.
I had never been out here before.
It is very nice.
We rented a car yesterday and drove to Peggy's Cove.
Gorgeous.
And only 60 people live there.
It is out of time.
Only 5 days till the party!
Can't wait!
Don't forget, You are never alone at the Party!

New Guests!

There are more and more people coming here to post and I love it!
I am sooooo multi-media!
Well, here it is...already only 3 weeks and a bit away till the Party.
I am all over excited and have been working my tushy off to bring you the entertainment...so..
we have three new guests to announce.
In the next few months we will have Ted Simonett, the face of Canadian Tire for so many years, who has been emancipated and will be singing and chattin' with us in the Ballroom....Have I ever mentioned how much I love that it is called the Ballroom? Enough said.
I am so excited that you will also see Graham Abbey one of Shakespeare's leading men, having played Macbeth and Romeo, straight to us from the Stratford Festival of Canada's production of "Coriolanus" singin' a song or two.
And Miss Jennifer Waiser, who I just love for her work in "Into the Woods" as Little Red and "Urinetown" as Little Sally. She is little too, but filled with belting goodness.
Then, of course, there is the special surprise guests.
Who will they be?
Can you take all the entertainment????
Also, I am working up a few interesting things myself and I have a new clothes sponsor!
Things are moving along just fine, I think.
Cabaret is making a comeback.

Forgotten...Like Chad Lowe

Okay....
shit!
Left out the most important thing!!
My partner Patrick...who wore a wonderful shirt proclaiming to all that he
"Could Be Your Private Dancer"
Accompanied all and took care of me like a dream.
He is just so solid that sometimes I forget.
Thank you, Deev.
And after reading the previous post I wanted to mention that we had over 100 peeps!
Woo Hoo!

Holy Crap!

I can't believe it is all done till next month!
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who came out!
You truly made last night a success for me.
All of a sudden I feel like Miss America.
" I'd like the thank...."
Wait a minute, Miss America doesn't get a speech.
Screw it.
For those of you who didn't come I give a little bit of a taste!
Going into a new room is always something that I find a little stressful.
You never know what the challenges are gonna be so ya gotta keep an open mind and a smile on your face.
I was very nervous but I managed to keep it in check as I went about the job of getting the space set up and the sound checked. I would like to deeply thank George ,my husband, and James, Patrick's partner, for being our gophers yesterday.....they did so much running around for the show...I don't know what we would have done without them.
They are such a huge part of the show.
(Shut up!
I am being totally sincere, which I try not to do too often
or people willl forget that I am an performer.)
By the time I started to get ready I had shoved half of a greek salad down my throat .
After I am dressed I like to do a reset of the room and then take a second to breathe.
When that was all done and I was sitting in the green room by myself I was freaked.
I mean, you never know who is gonna show, we don't have advance tickets!
So, George came up to inform me at 7:45pm that it was packed.
" How packed?", I asked.
"They are looking for more chairs."
I felt giddy, thrilled and throwy-uppy all at the same time!
You can imagine how that is.
It was George's idea, he makes me say this, that when I go out and greet everyone before I start ( which is one of my favourite parts) to bring them candy...which went over....all though some seemed to feel bad that I had to wait tables at the same time as do my show.
I could not believe the turn out.
I really still can't believe it.
So many great friends and so many new friends.
The show started well, although Patrick likes a party and it is always hard to find him to get him to the stage.
I had the best view from the stage and the Gladstone room is amazing!
I was so proud to invite Susan Gilmour up to sing.
She sang the crap out of "Coney Island" and an Evita medley.
The peeps couldn't believe their luck.
In the second set up came Thom Allison to sing a song from "The Life " and one from "Children of Eden".
God, his voice is quite thrilling.
Then I led a sing-a-long of Midnight Train to Georgia. That was my favourite part.
I had a young man named Bryce from "Lord Of the Rings" up onstage to be my cue card bitch for that number!
Surprise Guest!
Drum Roll, please.
The lovely and talented Steve Gallagher.
He lit up the room with a self penned monologue into "I'm a Catholic" from Altar Boyz and then " The Kid Inside" .
I wrapped it up with a couple of songs and an encore for which I was very thankful and my fab night came to a close.
Ah.....I felt like Sandy after her date with Danny in Grease.
GAylord.
Then went to Frans and ate a frinken' huge Hamburger with french fries...so happy. I ate those happy feelings.
There will be pictures up on my website in the next few days if you are interested!
Hope to see you all there next time and bring friends.
Remember, you don't have to worry if you come to the Party alone....there is always someone to sit with!
